VOLUNTEERING

WHY SERVE?

Definition: [contributing not consuming], participating and not spectating, {serving others}, responsibility for the house, ownership, volunteering time and money, equipping for service. “Finding my Gifts, Using my Gifts, Growing my Gifts.”

We believe that every partner at Rivers should play their part by using their gifts and abilities to serve others. Even though we are in lockdown and not able to exercise our volunteering in person, we still believe that every member of the church can be equipped to play a valuable part in enlarging the church. The more members involved, the more effective the church. The pastors’ role is to equip the people to do the work. Volunteering is a basic Bible principle that Rivers embraces and encourages. We have several ministry departments which provide great avenues for serving, such as: Car Park, Information Counter, Hospitality, Welcome Team, Resource Centre and Production, and many more. We are excited to resume our volunteering as soon as lockdown ends!

1 Peter 4:10 NIV Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.

Ephesians 4:11-13 MSG He handed out gifts of apostle, prophet, evangelist, and pastor-teacher to train Christians in skilled servant work, working within Christ’s body, the church, until we’re all moving rhythmically and easily with each other, efficient and graceful in response to God’s Son… Each person should make a contribution in what their gifting is like making things for the church, helping, providing various things.
