At Rivers we love God passionately, love people unconditionally and live life purposefully. We believe in our nation and are totally committed to serving the purposes of God and making a significant difference to the lives of people in their spiritual, social, emotional and physical worlds. Rivers aims for excellence in every area of ministry, because we place high value on the church and its people. We believe that God is good and that He wants to help, bless, grow, enlarge, change and release people’s potential.
Our weekend services include dynamic worship with a life-changing message, and aim to inspire and equip the whole family. We are a Christ-centred church that preaches the truth about Jesus in a fresh, illustrative and creative way. We actively reach out through our weekly services, television programme, Life By Design, foundation to the poor and community relationships. As a result, we are a fast-growing church that started with 70 people and currently exceeds 15 000 people across 5 campuses, located in Sandton, Kyalami, Centurion, Durban North and Ballito.

Rivers has been pastored by André and Wilma Olivier for almost three decades, and are accountable to an advisory board consisting of key businessmen and leaders who bring perspective and add value to the senior pastors.
André and Wilma Olivier have been the Senior Pastors of Rivers since 1992. They have built it from a church of 70 into a church of thousands and are responsible for the vision, values and culture of the multi-campus church. After being in ministry together for over three decades they remain committed to leading people into a fulfilling relationship with Christ and they are passionately committed to building all their congregations into churches of blessing and significance.
Each year the Senior Pastors prayerfully invite and appoint a competent Advisory Board, selected from the congregation and senior staff, to serve alongside them. The board consists of key business people, staff and leaders who bring perspective and add value to the Senior Pastors regarding the effective management of the church.
Rivers employs a number of full-time and part-time staff members across all campuses to carry the responsibility of the day-to-day needs of the church. This team is released by the Senior Pastors to provide a high standard of ministry effectiveness, excellence and pastoral care.
Rivers is a registered non-profit organisation. We adhere to strict financial management procedures and money is handled with integrity and a spirit of excellence.
The Advisory Board bring godly wisdom and sound financial expertise to the organisation. They meet regularly with Senior Pastor, André Olivier, as the Chairman and visionary leader.
Audited internal controls are adhered to in the handling, banking and spending of church finances.
The Senior Pastors have elected not to be signatories on any church payments. As a further security measure, all payments made require two signatories. The Advisory Team determines the salary of the Senior Pastors and staff. The church’s financial records and systems are audited annually by Waterman’s and submitted to the South African Revenue Service (SARS).
